Peptide+ Weight Control & Joint Care — a complete grain-free adult diet, high in protein (29%) and low in fat (9%), combining appetite-regulating fish peptides with collagen and green lipped mussel for joints.

Maintaining a healthy weight is essential to a dog's long-term health and wellbeing. Clinical studies have found that up to 65% of dogs are obese or above their ideal weight. Excess weight increases the risk of disease, causes functional impairment, shortens lifespan and reduces quality of life. Weight is a complex issue — food intake, activity, neuter status, gender, metabolism and genetics all play a part — but an appropriately formulated diet is a large part of the solution.

90% of dogs moved on to a healthier weight while being fed the Peptide+ weight management diet.

Freshtrusion™ HDP — the science behind Peptide+

Freshtrusion HDP is a unique process in which freshly prepared meat and fish are cooked in the presence of a natural enzyme that breaks the protein down into small peptides. The size of those peptides is what determines how well protein is digested and absorbed — when protein isn't absorbed properly, its nutritional value is lost.

The Goldilocks principle. You might assume whole, intact protein is best because it arrives with everything intact, or that single amino acids — broken down as far as possible — must be easiest to absorb. Research shows neither is true. Intact protein is too big, singular amino acids are too little, and the best digestibility and absorption rates occur in small-chain di- and tri-peptides. Just right.

The power of peptides for weight

Fish peptides have been shown to strongly stimulate the secretion of appetite-suppressive molecules — the peptide hormones cholecystokinin (CCK) from duodenal I-cells and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) from intestinal cells. In the short term this increases the feeling of satiety and decreases food intake, slowing body weight gain; over the longer term, reduced overall intake may decrease adipose tissue.

L-carnitine encourages fat oxidation, which helps reduce body fat stores. The recipe is formulated with a high protein content to support lean muscle mass and a low fat content to limit fat intake and deposition.

Joint care

Collagen is essential for bone health, providing the protein matrix — the scaffolding — on which bone mineralisation occurs. Bone collagen is continually broken down, repaired and renewed, so dietary collagen and collagen peptides help maintain strong, healthy bones for life.

  • Collagen peptides — can improve the signs of canine osteoarthritis and provide an excellent source of building blocks for cartilage tissue, important for mechanical function.
  • Green lipped mussel — a rich source of chondroprotective nutrients, shown to reduce arthritic signs in dogs.

At a glance

  • Fuller for longer — hydrolysed fish peptides stimulate appetite-suppressive hormones which increase the feeling of satiety.
  • Appetite control — increased dietary fibre is considered a contributing factor to satiety.
  • High protein, low calorie — to support lean muscle mass and a healthy weight.
  • Reduced body fat — L-carnitine encourages fat oxidation, which can help to reduce body fat stores.
  • Healthy joints & mobility — collagen peptides help to support cartilage, essential for healthy joints.
  • Cartilage care — green lipped mussel contains chondroprotective compounds which are beneficial to joint health.

Feeding & storage

Feed to appetite according to your dog's weight, age and activity level, adjusting to maintain ideal body condition. Introduce any new food gradually over 7–10 days, mixing an increasing proportion with the old food. Fresh drinking water should be available at all times.

Store in a cool, dry place. Reseal the bag after each use.
