Bonaforte's Five Star — Senior Dog — Scottish Salmon — a grain-free complete food for older dogs, with joint support, added L-Carnitine and a moderate fat level.
Nutrition developed in our own Irish Wolfhound kennel. Older dogs slow down before their appetites do, so this recipe keeps the protein high to help hold on to lean muscle while easing the fat back to 11%. A full joint care pack and naturally occurring collagen look after joints that have done a lot of miles, and added L-Carnitine helps an older dog stay the right shape.
What's in it, and why
- 65% total salmon — rich in essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals to support everyday health and well-being.
- Minimum 35% freshly prepared Scottish salmon — less intensively farmed fish, and a natural source of collagen.
- Joint care pack — glucosamine, methylsulfonylmethane and chondroitin sulphate, to help support cartilage for healthy joints in senior dogs.
- Naturally occurring collagen — helps maintain healthy joints and skin.
- L-Carnitine — added at 240 mg/kg to help maintain a healthy weight and lean muscle mass in older dogs.
- Superfood blend — dill for iron, to help support normal functions of the circulatory system; spinach for Vitamin A, to help maintain healthy vision; fennel for calcium, which helps maintain healthy bones and teeth; asparagus for Vitamin C, which plays an essential role in collagen synthesis; and tomato for potassium, to help with nerve and muscle function.

Feeding guides are a starting point — adjust to keep your dog in ideal body condition. Introduce any new food gradually over 7–10 days. Fresh drinking water should always be available.
The kibble
A triangular kibble of roughly 15mm across and 6mm deep, optimised and designed to suit senior dogs. Each kibble has a tolerance of +/- 1mm.
